Largely compiled by Paul Teather before his untimely death in 2017, his work has been edited by Robin Waywell and produced as this Handbook in Second Edition format. Cheshire was last covered by Handbook G in 1977, but that book included Shropshire and Hereford as well and was still only 150 pages. This book solely covers the historic county of Cheshire, and in far more detail, running to 484 pages. Amongst the locations featured are the chemical plants at Runcorn, Northwich and Winsford, the refineries at Stanlow, Lever Brothers’ at Port Sunlight, and the docks around Birkenhead and Ellesmere Port. There is also a large section on contractor’s locomotives. The book is illustrated with numerous archive photographs, both B&W and colour, and includes a number of site maps
