This is a reprint of a lavish record produced for the North British Locomotive Co. Ltd. shortly after the 1914 – 1918 war, documenting not just the dozens of locomotive designs built in that period but a range of ways in which the company contributed to the war effort. It is an exceptional example of promotional literature produced by the company at what was probably its zenith. The company contributed hugely to the war effort. The offices became a hospital for the wounded, and all manner of tanks, guns and other weapons of war (in addition to locomotives!) were produced. This work includes details of the company’s history and its products during the war, including curiosities such as the Electric steam-turbine locomotive – even aeroplanes and experimental military bridges!
